Obtaining an Education Visa
All foreign nationals who have applied and been successfully accepted onto a program must obtain an Education Visa before commencing their studies in Istanbul. You will receive further information with the Offer Letter which you will receive after applying and being accepted for a program.
All foreign nationals must have an EDUCATION VISA to be registered as a student in Turkey. Only students who are legally dependent on a resident in Turkey possessing a diplomatic visa or a work visa are exempted from this rule. Education visas cannot be obtained within Turkey. In order to apply for an education visa, you will need to visit the nearest Turkish Consulate or Embassy in your country. These are the basic documents that you need to prepare to apply for a student visa:
- The Letter of Acceptance from Kadir Has University (you will only receive this after paying your tuition fee deposit)
- A completed visa application form
- Visa fee (this differs by country)
- A valid passport (the passport must be valid for a minimum of one year)
- One passport size photograph of the applicant
- Bank statement
- If you have a sponsor, a letter from the sponsor
Please contact the Turkish Embassy in your own country to clarify the requirements and procedures necessary to apply for a visa.
We advise you to apply for your visa as early as possible before the semester begins. Late enrolment is not permitted.
When you receive your visa, check to confirm that it is an ‘education visa”. You will not be able to enrol on your program on a tourist visa. Kadir Has University will request to see your valid education visa stamped on your passport to complete your enrolment.
Don’t panic if you see that your visa was issued as a single entry and only for one year. After you complete the official registration process at the university, we will help you to apply for the residence permit, which will be your official document throughout your studies at Kadir Has University.
The visa remains valid as long as you are enrolled at Kadir Has University and attending classes.
Please note, if you have graduated within Turkey from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program within the last year you can apply directly to the local Directorate of Security in Turkey for an education visa.
Students are able to work part-time for a maximum of 40 hours per calendar month while studying in Turkey.
